Sony's in-house studio "PixelOpus" is shutting down on June 2. The developers behind Concrete Genie and Entwined stated in a tweet today "adventure has come to an end."
The studio announced its exit in a tweet today, showing appreciation to players who enjoyed their games. As the tweet reads:
"Dear friends, our PixelOpus adventure has come to an end. As we look to new futures, we wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to the millions of passionate players who have supported us, and our mission to make beautiful, imaginative games with heart. We are so grateful!"
According to IGN, a PlayStation representative said, "PlayStation Studios regularly evaluates its portfolio and the status of studio projects to ensure they meet the organization’s short and long-term strategic objectives. As part of a recent review process, it has been decided that PixelOpus will close on June 2."
PixelOpus revealed in June 2021 that it was working on an "exciting new PlayStation 5 title" in collaboration with Sony Pictures Animation. Whether this project has been canceled or assigned to another studio will remain unknown until further notice from Sony.
