Sony today announced that it is raising the price of the PS5 in multiple countries.
Countries affected by the price hike include the UK, Japan, China, Australia, Mexico and Canada. Thankfully, Malaysia is not listed as a country affected.
According to the official Sony blog, they cited the current global economic environment as their reason for the price hike.
“We’re seeing high global inflation rates, as well as adverse currency trends, impacting consumers and creating pressure on many industries,” Sony wrote in the announcement.
With the PS5 prices increasing despite the console still being in low supply, it will be a frustrating endeavour for anyone still trying to buy one.
