Recently, Samsung has made a surprise comeback by introducing the Fan Edition version for the Galaxy S23 after skipping it for the Galaxy S22. And not only that, aside from the Galaxy S23 FE, Samsung has also introduced a FE version of tablet and TWS earbuds that share the same concept — offering Samsung flagships feature without breaking your bank.. We got our hands on a unit of the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE so let's see what it has to offer us.

Design
At first look, the phone has a premium design similar to its flagship counterpart, the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+. It features a shiny glass back with a matte aluminium frame, giving it a very solid feel in the hand, not to mention the smooth curves and edges also make it very comfortable to hold with just one hand.

Display
The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE features a 6.4-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, and the size is somewhere in between the S23 and S23+. The brightness can go all the way up to 1450 nits which is quite impressive especially for this mid-range variant.

Camera
For the camera setup, it has a 50MP primary lens, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and an 8MP telephoto lens equipped with 3x optical zoom, while offering a wide range of shooting modes. It also has very high capability in video recording and is able to capture video up to 8k resolution at 24fps. The front selfie camera is a 10MP wide lens camera which is more than sufficient. It is also worth to note that Samsung has for the first time included the Nightography feature in its FE model.

Power
The smartphone is powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 2200 chipset, which is also a flagship chip so we can see that Samsung is still aiming to offer a seamless user experience even with the FE model. On the battery side, it has a larger 4,500mAh battery which would be sufficient for full day use, but for the charging speed of 25w I would say it is at the slower side.

Verdict
Overall the first impression on the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE looks quite promising given the price tag of RM3,299 for the 256GB variant and I cannot wait to further explore and test out with this smartphone. Stay tuned as we will be releasing a full in depth review of the Galaxy S23 FE.
