The Samsung Galaxy A35 5G is one of the latest models from the Galaxy A series. This product boasts not only its impressive camera features but also its security measures to ensure that you will never have your sensitive data stolen ever again!
In this review, we’ll be taking a closer look at the Samsung Galaxy A35 5G’s overall design, display, camera, performance and security in order to help you decide if this phone is best suited for you!
Design
Introducing the Samsung Galaxy A35 5G, which comes in 3 different colours, all of which have their own unique charm to it, namely Awesome Navy, Awesome Lilac and the one that I managed to receive, the Awesome IceBlue. It’s evident to see that Samsung intends to blend in with the current market by providing a more youthful design in a smartphone with powerful performance.
The phone is sleek and lightweight with a dimension of 161.7 x 78 x 8.2 mm and weight of 209 g. Furthermore, the Samsung Galaxy A35 5G is equipped with the Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus®+, users no longer have to worry about scratching or even dropping your phone. Additionally, the A35 5G is water and dust-resistant, carrying an IP67 rating.
Display
The Samsung A35 5G features a 6.6’’ FHD alongside a Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. This translates to an immersive viewing experience when it comes to playing your favourite games, watching movies or even YouTube videos filled with incredible detail and vivid colours.
Meanwhile the screen’s brightness is said to go all the way up to 1000 nits as the peak brightness, and this allows the phone to capture the sharper details as well as the sharper colour compared to most phones. Additionally, the Galaxy A35 5G also comes with Vision Booster. This helps enhance visibility of the phone even when you’re outside under direct sunlight.
Camera
Although it isn’t the main focus for this phone, the Samsung Galaxy A35 5G still has a decent camera setting that is suitable for snapping pictures both inside and outside! For the main camera, the Samsung Galaxy A35 5G features a 50 + 8 + 5 Mega Pixel Triple Rear Camera system to allow you to be able to capture incredibly well-detailed images, filled with vivid colours. The 50 MP camera is combined with the f/1.8 aperture lens with a main 35mm focal length, ensuring every photo you take is spot on in every detail.
Meanwhile, the Selfie Camera has a 13 MP camera in order to capture clearer pictures, especially if you’re a big fan of selfies. Moreover, the Samsung Galaxy A35 5G also features an impressive NPU and one of its main features is the Nightography AI, which allows you to be able to snap pictures under low lighting conditions and make photos clearer than before.
For the photos, whether it’s outdoor or indoors, all the details are nicely captured and the vivid colours are also accurately portrayed in the photos.
Asides from that, with a decent 8MP Ultra Wide Lens, you’ll be able to snap your photos, even from afar!
Not only that, but the Samsung Galaxy A35 5G is also installed with the industry-leading 12-bit Super HDR, and this is an upgrade from its predecessor, the A34 and its 10-bit HDR. This upgrade leads to better optimization of light and dark spots on pictures.

Furthermore, aside from just taking pictures, the videos that you shoot will also come out clear and crisp as the phone comes with 833 Hz and 4K Adaptive VDIS. This ensures that you’ll be able to capture crisp and vivid videos. In addition, with the OIS, this ensures that you’ll be able to take videos that are stable even when you’re walking or running.
Performance
The Samsung Galaxy A35 5G is powered by the Exynos 1380 Processor, Octa-core up to 2.4GHz, along with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Additionally, the phone’s Application Processor had an NPU score that was 81% better compared to its predecessor, and this would also help enhance the phone’s HDR and even gaming.
Game Test
Genshin Impact
Genshin Impact is a game that is notable for its fast battery-drain on mobile devices. However, after playing the game for around 30 minutes at High graphics, I realised that only 9% of battery was drained during that period of time. Not only that, but I was also able to play the game consistently at 60 fps without experiencing much issues with lag and the phone did not heat up as much while playing either.
As for the battery life, the phone has an impressive 5,000mAh battery, which, with only a single charge, is designed to keep your phone up and running for two full days. Thus, I decided to test it out by watching YouTube. And after watching YouTube videos at 1080p for an hour straight, only 7% of the battery was drained.
The Galaxy A35 5G supports only 25W wired charging and although it supports Super Fast Charging, it is still considered quite slow compared to its competitor within the similar price range, but the capacity is more than enough to compensate for it.
In terms of overall performance, the Galaxy A35 5G is very efficient when it comes to scrolling through social media, watching videos online and even playing games. In addition, compared to its predecessor, the phone has a larger cooling system, up to 74%, as well as a vapour chamber. This is to ensure that the phone would be able to run smoothly and for the processor to work at peak performance for a long period of time.
Security
The Samsung Galaxy A35 5G boasts its new enhanced security features with the Samsung Knox Vault. With Knox, you won’t have to worry about people obtaining your personal information as the Knox Vault is an EAL5+ certified, tamper-resistant environment. For example, with the Knox Vault, your phone password will not get hacked even if forensic equipment is used.
Another Knox feature that is reliable is the Samsung Knox Matrix, and it’s a feature that helps you store data in the cloud and it cannot be opened unless it gets decrypted on your personal device.
Furthermore, aside from Knox, another security feature that the Samsung Galaxy A35 5G also provides is known as the Auto Blocker, which is an opt-in package of additional security measures. As its namesake, the Auto Blocker feature helps to block out unknown apps from unauthorised sources while also preventing malicious commands and even software updates when it is connected by USB cable. Moreover, the Auto Blocker will also conduct security checks for any potential malware in your phone each time a new app is installed.
Additionally, nowadays, it is rather common for someone to receive a scam call from someone. However, you no longer have to worry about this problem with the all new Smart Call feature. With the Smart Call feature your phone will alert you about this by labelling the caller as ‘Scam’, ‘Fraud’ or ‘Suspected Scam’ if the caller is not listed in your contacts. Furthermore, you would be able to block the caller before or after receiving the call, that way you will no longer be harassed by the same caller again.
Thus, with the Samsung Knox Security, your entire device, as well as any sensitive information in your phone, will remain confidential, no matter where you go.
Conclusion
The Galaxy A35 5G isn’t just a regular phone; it’s a phone that is designed to protect all your personal information while also providing the necessary features for you to use on a daily basis. For just RM1,699, I can say that this phone is an impressive addition to the Galaxy A series. Not only is the camera quality decent, but the processor speed is also faster compared to its predecessor which makes for a quality phone for you to get!
