ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X to Hit Store Shelves October 16, 2025!

ASUS ROG has revealed that the new ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X, powered by AMD Ryzen™ Z2 processors, will launch on October 16, 2025. Fans can get their first hands-on experience at gamescom 2025, where ROG will showcase its full 2025 laptop lineup. GTA V actors Ned Luke and Shawn Fonteno will also join the booth for a special meet-and-greet.

Ready for launch

The ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X will launch on October 16 across major markets including the US, UK, Japan, and more, with broader availability — including Brazil, India, and Thailand — to follow. The standard Ally features an AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor, 16GB RAM, 512GB storage, and a 60Wh battery, while the high-end Ally X upgrades to a Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme with 24GB RAM, 1TB storage, and an 80Wh battery. Pricing and pre-order details will be announced soon.

Optimized for handheld

Xbox has introduced a new Handheld Compatibility Program to ensure a smooth gaming experience on the ROG Xbox Ally series. At launch, supported games will be labeled as either Handheld Optimized (ready to play with ideal settings) or Mostly Compatible (requiring minor tweaks). The Xbox app also adds advanced shader preloading, enabling faster startups, smoother gameplay, and better battery efficiency. Meanwhile, the ROG Xbox Ally X leverages its Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme chip to unlock upcoming AI-powered features starting next year. These features include:

• Automatic Super Resolution (Auto SR): a system-level feature that uses the power of the NPU to upscale games running at lower resolutions. This delivers high-resolution visuals and smooth framerates across a wide range of games, with no additional changes required from game developers.

• Highlight reels: AI captures standout gameplay moments — like epic boss battles or victories — and generates short replay clips to share with friends or on social channels.

Both handhelds, along with the entire 2025 ROG lineup that includes the latest Strix, Zephyrus, and Flow laptops, will be on show at the gamescom 2025 ROG booth. The ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X will be fully playable with a selection of games including Balatro, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, DOOM: The Dark Ages, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, Gears of War: Reloaded, Hogwarts Legacy, Lies of P, and Roblox — featuring experiences including 99 Nights in the Forest, Grow a Garden, and Rivals.

To celebrate the upcoming launch of the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, ROG is reuniting Ned Luke and Shawn Fonteno, one of gaming’s most iconic duos, for the latest installment of ROG Travel. Ned Luke reprises his role of the supervisor at ROG Travel, while Shawn Fonteno joins the cast as a new hire with strong suggestions for the ROG Xbox Ally as a ticket to send their customer on a perfect gaming getaway to Allywood, a place of dreams and infinite possibilities. Both Ned Luke and Shawn Fonteno will be live at the ROG booth, giving fans the exciting opportunity to meet them in person.
