[Review] Body Temperature Monitoring Capability: The HONOR Earbuds 3 Pro

HONOR Earbuds 3 Pro

RM699

We've seen many brands releasing high-quality earbuds with all the features you can think of. But HONOR's latest earbuds impress me, especially in this post-pandemic era, with a temperature measurement function that notifies you of your body temperature when tested.

The HONOR Earbuds 3 Pro comes in a plastic charging case, which adopts the magnetic suction method, allowing you to open and close the lid easily with one hand. To make sure you feel more comfortable wearing them, the earbuds come equipped with pressure-equalizing front and rear vents. There are two color options available: white and gray.

In practice, they are very comfortable to wear even after hours. By default, you will get the middle-size ear tips attached to the earbuds. There are also the small and large ones included in the box, depending on the size of your auricles.

To pair the Earbuds 3 Pro with your smartphone, simply open the charging case, then press and hold the button on the side of the case until the LED indicator shows white light. A notification will appear on your device to prompt pairing mode.

As for controls, tap twice to play/pause music or answer/end a call. To adjust the volume, swipe up for louder volume and down for lower volume. Press and hold either earbud to switch between noise cancellation mode, ambient mode, or disable both. For the first time, HONOR brings a temperature monitoring feature (which we will mention more later) that can be enabled by tapping the earbud thrice.

For sound quality, the earbuds use ultra-wideband coaxial dual-unit with ultra-large amplitude dynamic and ceramic tweeter to make the output sound more natural and balanced. The ceramic tweeter is specially designed and optimized for a high frequency of 10kHz - 20kHz, to bring bright and more transparent treble. It also has an 11mm dynamic driver for improved and more powerful bass.

The Earbuds 3 Pro supports adaptive active noise cancellation, an AI feature that allows the earbuds to automatically switch between noise-canceling modes when you're in different surroundings. In airplanes or subways, the ultra mode will cancel up to 46dB of noise, which is a pleasure for someone who takes the LRT train on a daily basis. There's also a cozy mode for quieter places like libraries and a general mode for balanced noise-canceling in places where you would like to reduce some noise while listening to what's going on around you.

Ever since the pandemic era hits the world, many of us are getting more health-conscious and temperature monitoring seems more inevitable than ever. The HONOR Earbuds 3 Pro is the first TWS earbuds capable of measuring body temperature. After measuring your body temperature, the earbuds will inform you if your temperature is normal or high or low. You can enable a periodic measurement in the settings to automatically measure your body temperature every 10 minutes via the AI Space app.

Another first time on the Earbuds 3 Pro is the 5C fast charging technology, which lets the charging case charge up the earbuds to 65% in just 10 minutes. HONOR claims that a 5-minute charge will give you 2 hours of music playback. You can charge the case via the USB-C port at the bottom or wirelessly on devices that support reverse charging, like the HONOR Magic4 Pro.

One of my favorite features offered by the earbuds is smart dual device connection, which allows them to be connected to two devices at the same time and you can switch between each without having to disconnect either one.

The HONOR Earbuds 3 Pro is simply the brand's best earbuds to date with excellent performance in terms of depth, bass, and tuning. Noise reduction is also great in reducing noises from incoming trains or car engines. For RM699, it's worth the price with extra features like 5C fast charging technology, dual device connection, IP54 (earbuds) and IP52 (charging case) dust and water resistance, as well as temperature monitoring.
