Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon 888 5G Mobile Platform, its new flagship chip with is said to have 25% faster CPU performance. It was unveiled during Snapdragon Tech Summit Digital 2020.
The Snapdragon 888 5G boasts the 3rd generation Qualcomm Snapdragon X60 5G Modem-RF system and the 6th generation Qualcomm AI Engine, along with the 2nd generation Qualcomm Sensing Hub. Qualcomm is promising “global compatibility by offering mmWave and sub-6 across all major bands worldwide”, support for features like 5G carrier aggregation and Dynamic Spectrum Sharing, and a performance of 26 TOPS with its AI Engine.
The chip also features the 3rd generation of Snapdragon Elite Gaming, the Qualcomm Adreno 660 GPU. Qualcomm says that it will provide the “most significant upgrade in Qualcomm Adreno GPU performance”, with the up to 35% faster graphics rendering speed. In addition, a faster Qualcomm Spectra ISP will allow photos and videos to be taken at “2.7 gigapixels per second or roughly 120 photos at 12MP resolution”.

Xiaomi's upcoming Mi11 will be one of the first devices to be equipped with the Snapdragon 888 5G.
