When Sega Genesis games arrive for Switch online subscribers next month, Nintendo will be selling wireless Nintendo 64 and Genesis controllers exclusively to Switch Online subscribers. While users in most regions will get three-button Genesis controllers, the company has announced a six-button version that will be available exclusively in Japan only, Nintendo confirmed to Polygon.

A representative of Nintendo of America explained that "different regions make different decisions based on a variety of factors". They also added that "for the U.S. and Canada, a replica of the original SEGA Genesis controller is the available model".

Besides the SEGA Genesis controller, Nintendo will also be selling modern wireless versions of the Nintendo 64 controller. Each controller is priced at 5,478 Yen (~RM207), and will be sold to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers only.

The company has yet to announce a release date for both controllers.
