According to Chinese tipster Digital Chart Station, the upcoming MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chipset may come with four Cortex-A78 cores peaking at 2.85GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores running at 2.0GHz.
However, there are some doubts about the GPU as the software detects it as G610 MC6 but the fact sheet the leaker obtained points to a G510 MC6 instead. The chipset is built on the TSMC 5nm process with support for both LDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 storage.
The tipster also revealed that the Dimensity 8100 could square with last year's Snapdragon 888 SoC as the GFX Bench ES 3.0 Manhattan test results are around 170fps, putting the GPU in the same category as the Adreno 666.
If the leaks are true, the Dimensity 8100 will do well for mid-range smartphones. It is expected to launch in a Redmi device next month.
