Malaysia Hit With Nationwide Blackout

Several areas in the Klang Valley area have been hit by a major blackout.

According to several people on social media, areas affected include Petaling Jaya, Old Klang Road, Shah Alam, Bangi and Cheras.

There are even reports that the blackout has even occurred in other states including Pahang, Kedah, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, and Penang.

There has been no official comment from Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) regarding the blackout.

UPDATE: TNB has issued a statement acknowledging the issue on their Facebook and is currently working on identifying and resolving the power outage.

UPDATE 2: TNB has announced that power has been restored as of 3PM today.

UPDATE 3: TNB said in a tweet that the cause of the power outage was the result of an issue at substation in Yong Peng North, Johor. This resulted in a load shedding of 2.2 Gigawatts, which makes up 10% of the total power supply demand in mainland Malaysia.
