iPhone SE 2020 Launches With A13 Bionic Chip, Starts From RM1,999

Always wanted an iPhone without dropping big bucks on one? With the sneaky launch of the iPhone SE 2020, you can now be part of the Apple cult for less than RM2,000.

While the second-generation iPhone SE may seem dated compared to the iPhone 11, do note that it is a comparatively budget-friendly device and it still comes with the A13 Bionic chip. It features a 4.7" display, which is compact by today's standards, and has a Retina HD IPS panel at 1334 x 750 resolution.

Keeping up with the coronatimes, the device supports Touch ID and not Face ID, since most of our faces will be hidden behind masks anyway.

Camera-wise, it is rather similar to the iPhone 8, with a 12MP rear camera that shoots 4K60fps videos with optical image stabilisation. However, this device can shoot extended dynamic range video up to 30fps and supports QuickTake video and Stereo recording as well. On the front, you'll find a 7MP FaceTime HD camera that records up to 1080p HD videos, and supports portrait selfie mode with depth control and 6 lighting effects.

Battery life is also similar to the iPhone 8, and it supports Qi wireless charging as well as fast charging via the 18W USB-PD power brick that is sold separately. It also supports WiFi 6, dual-SIM, and has IP67 rated dust and water resistance.

It is available in 3 pretty unremarkable colours - white, black, and red. Availability in Malaysia has yet to be revealed, but the prices have already been listed on the Malaysian Apple website:

  • 64GB: RM1,999

  • 128GB: RM2,199

  • 256GB: RM2,699
