HUAWEI WATCH 5 Review Article: The Health Watch with Precision Tracking!

HUAWEI announced the release of a brand new addition to their HUAWEI WATCH series earlier in May, the HUAWEI WATCH 5, a watch that combines both futuristic aesthetics with cutting edge technology, especially with its multi-sensing X-TAP technology. In this review article, we’ll be diving deeper into the watch’s design, display and overall features of this watch in order to showcase why the WATCH 5 is something to look forward to getting, especially for those looking to monitor their health.

Design

The design for the HUAWEI WATCH 5 is inspired by the Kármán Line, the boundary between Earth and space, and this is represented by its futuristic and cutting-edge aesthetic. This unique design helps the watch not only feel more premium, but also stand out from other competitors.

In addition, the WATCH 5 is also available to consumers in two distinct sizes, the 42mm and 46mm, in order to cater to consumers with different wrist profiles without compromising on the design. HUAWEI also offers three forms of strap materials for consumers to choose from to best fit their needs: titanium, fluoroelastomer, and composite leather.

These watches are crafted using 904L stainless steel for greater durability and corrosion resistance while also completing the overall appearance. The 42mm model uses this robust material whereas the 46mm variant steps it up with an aerospace-grade silver which makes it 45% lighter and twice as strong as stainless steel for strength and comfort. Additionally, for those who are looking for simplicity, the 316L stainless steel variants are also available for them to choose from.

The HUAWEI WATCH 5 comes in multiple colour options for both the 46mm and 42mm variants, with the Sand Gold and Beige for the 42mm, and Purple for the 46mm. This diverse colour selection is beneficial for consumers as this would ensure that the watch would be able to fit every colour preferences and lifestyle.

Display

When it comes to the display of the watches, the WATCH 5 features a spherical sapphire glass display which is paired with ultra-thin bezels for greater and an impressive 3000 nits peak brightness which would allow users to be able to look at the screen with ease under any lighting conditions.

Not only that, the watch also enables users to be able to manage their wrist fashion with customizable watch screens as it comes with a range of Watch faces to choose from, including an emotion-themed animal like in other HUAWEI watches. Though this time, instead of a panda, the WATCH 5 introduces a new emotion-themed animal, Felix the cat, that appears on your screen in order to measure your mood.

Sensor

The HUAWEI WATCH 5 doesn’t just come with an incredible design, it also revolutionises health monitoring with its world-first innovation, the Multisensing X-TAP technology. This system combines both ECG electrode sensors and pressure-sensing capabilities in order to provide accurate health reading data which includes heart rate variability (HRV), emotional wellbeing, and blood oxygen saturation, and this information will be delivered within 60 seconds with just a single tap.

In addition to this, the WATCH 5 also introduces an industry-leading fingertip blood oxygen monitoring capability which provides accurate results in under 10 seconds.

Aside from just its exceptional sensing prowess, the WATCH 5 also ensures a more convenient method in order to allow users to carry out actions even while carrying out their daily activities. This allows tasks such as handling calls, managing music and even controlling their smartphone camera to be easily taken care of with simple gestures such as  Double Sliding and Double Tapping.

Applications

In addition to this, the HUAWEI WATCH 5 also ensures that users will be able to have a healthy lifestyle as they provide over 100 different types of Sports Modes, and they even included three new modes added, which are Golfing, 40m freediving and even trail running. With this, users will be able to track their performances and even progress while carrying out various sports and activities with the watch.

Aside from that, the WATCH 5 also allows users to be able to make payments directly from your wrist as the watch supports Touch n’ Go QR payments. Furthermore, the watch also comes with NFC access capabilities, which will allow users to be able to unlock doors or gates without needing a physical card, and this feature is especially useful if you’re a forgetful person.

Battery

The battery life is another aspect where the HUAWEI WATCH 5 excels in, with its dual-mode battery system. The dual-mode system includes a Standard Mode for full functionality as well as a Battery Saver Mode for a longer battery life.

In Standard Mode, the 46mm model is able to last up to 4.5 days of continuous use while the 42mm variant can last up to 3 days. Though, when the WATCH 5 is set to Battery Saver Mode, the 46mm model can last up to 11 days and 7 days on the 42mm model, and this makes it ideal for those who are usually busy for a week or those who do not charge their watch frequently.

Verdict

In conclusion, the HUAWEI WATCH 5 is able to showcase its fusion of cutting-edge technology with its futuristic design. Not only is it lightweight and comfortable to wear, but you’ll also be able to monitor and get accurate readings on your fitness, health and even stress levels. Not to mention that it comes with many gestures to help make things more convenient for users.
