Blizzard's free-to-play online digital collectible card game - Hearthstone - has added a new game mode, called Mercenaries. In Mercenaries, players will recruit and collect legendary characters from across all of Azeroth. Players can choose to mix and match over 50 unique Mercenaries from some fan-favourites like Sylvanas Windrunner and Ragnaros the Firelord. Each Mercenary can be leveled up to level 30 with upgradable abilities and potential synergies to create squad combinations.
In the new game mode, players will be able to collect 8 Mercenaries immediately by completing the introductory missions to put together a Party and start chasing for Bounties.
When players have completed the Mercenaries Prologue and start their first bounty, they will receive the new Sarge mount for World of Warcraft. Each bounty will lead players to the Bounty Boss and additional difficulty levels can be unlocked as the game progresses.
To build their own dream team, players can choose from the different roles of the Mercenaries, including Fighter, Caster, and Protector. Each role has different types of moves as well as different strengths and weaknesses. At the most basic level, Fighters can deal double damage to Casters, Casters can deal double damage to Protectors, and Protectors can deal double damage to Fighters.
The Village is the central hub of the game mode where players manage their collection, collect task rewards, purchase things at the Mercenaries shop, set off on bounties, and more.
