GTA 5 Passes Another Sales Milestone

Writer: Ian KhooIan Khoo

Grand Theft Auto 5 has passed yet another sales milestone, almost a decade since the game was released.

Developed by Rockstar Games and released in 2013, the game quickly became one of the most popular games of all time. The game generated over 800 million USD (RM 3.5 billion) on its first day of launch and 1 billion USD (RM 4.4 billion) in three days.

While some people have not played the game in a long time, the game is still going strong, as shown by the latest figures from Take-Two Interactive’s financial update.

Take-Two announced during an investor conference that GTA 5 has sold over 170 million copies to date. An additional 5 million copies were sold during the last quarter.

The continued success of the game can be seen in GTA Online, which has continued to add new content over the years and keep players engaged.

However, some may see the continued success as a negative. Having a game that still brings in money, Rockstar and Take-Two would not see a reason to move on to GTA 6. While they have already confirmed that GTA 6 was in development, no release date has been given. Players might have to wait for a while before they can see the release of a new Rockstar game.
