GIGABYTE Announces AORUS RTX 3090/3080 GAMING BOX

GIGABYTE has announced the AORUS RTX 3090/3080 GAMING BOX, which it dubs the world’s first water-cooled external graphics.

The AORUS RTX 3090/3080 GAMING BOX’s cooling system integrates a copper plate, 240mm aluminium radiator, and two 120mm fans, and has an optimized pump and water block for efficient water flow and lower noise. GIGABYTE says that its cooling takes care of not just the GPU but the VRAM and MOSFET as well.


Other features of the AORUS RTX 3090/3080 GAMING BOX include PD 3.0 power delivery support for laptop charging and adjustable performance and RGB lighting if you install AORUS enigne and RGB Fusion 2.0. It has a 5‎50W PSU inside.

The device connects to external GPU-supporting Windows 10 laptops and desktops via Thunderbolt 3, with the 3080 variant’s product page listing a Thunderbolt 3 USB Type-C cable as being included in the box. Other port types listed include an Ethernet port, three USB3.0 ports, two HDMI ports, and three DP ports.

In addition, the press release mentions that the AORUS RTX 3090/3080 GAMING BOX has an in-built network chip that connects to a wired network. “You don't have to worry about transmission interference during the game,” it states.
