After the recent Genshin Impact Livestream hosted about a week ago, many fans were understandably excited with what's to come in the upcoming Version 4.8 update. What players can expect is a brand new summertime event, brand new character outfits that they are able to get as well as an upcoming Five-star character that Genshin Impact officially released a while back.
Same as it has each year, fans are anticipating the upcoming Genshin Impact summer event titled Summertide Scales and Tales. It is also in this event where the game also intends on releasing two brand new character outfits. The two character in question will be Nilou and Kirara.
Genshin Impact Summer Event: Summertide Scales and Tales
With the release of this event, the game appears to follow the same formula as the previous summer events, by releasing a brand new exclusive area for this event only, where players are able to traverse and explore.
In the first ever summer event, the Golden Archipelago was the exclusive area for the Midsummer Island Adventure back in Version 1.6 of the game. The location then made another appearance in Version 2.8's event, the Summertime Odyssey.

The year after that, players were happy to learn that a new exclusive location would be their destination for the Version 3.8's summertime event, the Secret Summer Paradise.

Meanwhile, in Version 4.8, players will be introduced to a brand new exclusive area for the summertime event, an area known as Simulanka:
Players will be given the opportunity to explore this brand new area while also taking part in the story event that comes with it.
New Character Outfits
As mentioned before, alongside this event, players will also be able to unlock and purchase new outfits for two specific characters, Nilou and Kirara. These two characters will join an already growing list of characters to have received outfits from the game.
Kirara's outfit also known as the "Phantom in Boots" which might be a reference to the well-known animated character, Puss in Boots. Her outfit is unlockable via the game's event by exploring and collecting items throughout Simulanka called Excerpts of Bliss.

On the the other hand, Nilou's skin called the "Breeze of Sabaa" is a paid outfit that players will be able to purchase from the store. During this period, players will be able to purchase Nilou's outfit for 1350 Genesis Crystals, with the skin getting a discount during this limited time event. Though, when the event ends, her outfit can be purchased at 1680 Genesis Crystals.

With Version 4.8, many players will be able to see the return of some older characters that haven't gotten a rerun banner in a while as the first phase of Version 4.8, Navia and Nilou will be the time-limited event characters for players to be able to pull for. Both characters appear to be making an appearance in the upcoming summer event, which makes sense for their reappearance in the banners. As for the four star characters, Kirara and Ningguang are featured, and this also marks the return of Kaveh, who has not been a featured 4-star character since Version 3.6 of Genshin Impact.

Meanwhile, the second phase of the banner, players will be introduced to a new 5-Star character named Emilie, a Polearm Dendro Character.
Her banner will be released alongside Yelan's and three new featured four star characters, although they have not been released yet.

Alongside the new character, players will also be able to get her polearm named the Lumidouce Elegy, which is a weapon that suits Emilie best.
Upcoming Events
Besides the upcoming summer event, Genshin Impact will also be releasing several other events for players to indulge in to collect in-game rewards which include primogems.
One upcoming quest will be Emilie's Character Quest which will allow players to further learn about the new character.
