EVOS SG has emerged as the winners of Singapore’s first Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL Singapore), winning the grand prize of S$30,000 (~RM123,255) in cash in the process.

The final playoffs, which featured a best-of-five format, took place at esports centre The Gym with an online audience spectating. EVOS SG faced off against RSG SG and took a flawless victory with a 3-0 score.

Several of EVOS SG’s players also received some nods at the tournament, with Pokemon earning the Playoffs Most Valuable Player title while Andrew “Potato” Lim took the Regular Season MVP title. Meanwhile, Long ‘Girl’ Shih Kiat was recognized with the Best Tournament Rookie title.

“We’re delighted to win the first MPL Singapore! It has been a long ride for us from new players to a whole new team,” said EVOS SG manager Matthew Chan. “But no matter what changes, we always play as one and we always aim to win for EVOS, and for our boss Ivan. #MPLisBlue. EVOS SG has always been one family and that’s how we did it. Whenever any of us is having a bad game, the rest of us will step up and finish the job. To all our fans, local and overseas, your support plays a big part in our success and we will strive to deliver more trophies to come!”

Both EVOS SG and RSG SG will head on to the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup, which begins on June 8.
