Epic’s New Freebies are a Bridge Builder with Zombies and a Steampunk Puzzle Game

Epic Game Store is delivering two free games this week, which are Bridge Constructor: The Walking Dead and Ironcast.

The former takes the physics-based bridge-building simulator gameplay of the Bridge Constructor series and merges it with the world of The Walking Dead. This means appearances from characters like Daryl and Eugene and, of course, zombies. Instead of merely constructing structurally safe bridges and constructions for the characters and vehicles to cross, you also have to be mindful of the zombie threat. The game offers “movable level objects, explosives and baits” to deal with the zombies.

Meanwhile, Ironcast is set in a Victorian sci-fi setting with giant mechs, with players controlling a machine called an Ironcast to battle other Ironcast who are invading 1880s England. The game offers turn-based gameplay with a roguelite campaign, with upgradable abilities and unlockable items, technology to loot, and Ironcast customization.

Ironcast also sports a grid-like node system. As the store page explains, “Battles are fought by generating resource nodes which in turn drive the Ironcast's various weapons and systems. You must choose how to spend these nodes wisely, either offensively in order to cripple and destroy your opponents, or defensively, if they suspect a barrage of incoming weapons fire is due.”
