Denuvo’s controversial anti-piracy Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology is coming to Nintendo Switch games.
In a press release, Denuvo stated that its software will “integrate seamlessly into the build toolchain” and “blocks gameplay on emulators”.
This wouldn’t be surprising to Nintendo fans as the company is notorious for clamping down on anyone emulating their games. It was only recently that a man was sentenced to prison for pirating Nintendo titles.
While Denuvo claims their DRM does not have an impact on gameplay, PC gamers who have experienced it in their games would say otherwise. Many claims that it causes gameplay to lag and framerate drops.
We can only hope that Nintendo Switch games would not see their performance affected by this DRM implementation.
