Cyberpunk 2077 becomes Steam's Top Seller Game and its playerbase is still growing

The comeback of Cyberpunk 2077.

The growing playerbase of Cyberpunk 2077 is been noticeable for the past few weeks after the debuts of its anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Another factor that cause this happening would be the new DLC expansion called Phantom Liberty. CD Projekt Red have confirmed that the DLC will feature a whole new district within the open world and a new storyline based on American spy thrillers.

Benji-Sales on Twitter had been tracking the peak concurrent player count on Steam for the past week starting on September 19, the game have reached the peak of 78,478 players. The current peak for September 26 is 81,948.

Although Cyberpunk 2077 has been rising up the list last week, it has now taken the #1 spot from Slime Rancher 2 which have been released on September 23. Many believe that the enormous popularity of the Netflix anime spinoff Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was even more significant than the DLC announcement, where the anime brought back new and returning players back to the game.
