As Valve announced the release of Counter-Strike 2 a few days ago alongside a limited test with the Source 2 engine, the recent record number of CS:GO concurrent players has reached another high peak of 1.5 million players, breaking its own record again in February which was around 1.3 million according to SteamDB.

The CS:GO all-time peak goes up almost 200,000 from the February figures thanks to the CS2 release.
Besides, Counter-Strike 2 will be available as a free upgrade for CS:GO in this Summer, announced by Valve. It features massively enhanced visuals and lighting, a newly upgraded tick server, new volumetric smoke, and more that can be found here.
