ASUS ROG Phone 3 Series Launched, Prices Start from ~RM3,929

It's an exciting day for mobile gamers, as the godfather of gaming phones - the ROG Phone 3 series - has finally been revealed.

At the top of the range is the ASUS ROG Phone 3 coming in at 999 (RM4,913), while gamers who can't afford to fork out nearly RM5k can opt for the Strix Edition which costs 'only' €799 (RM3,929). The latter is a slightly watered down version of the flagship, but still extremely powerful.

The ROG Phone 3 comes in hot with a Snapdragon 865 Plus 5G chipset, up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Blessing your eyes is a 6.59" FHD+ 144Hz AMOLED HDR10+ certified display, while a 6,000mAh battery with 30W fast charging will keep the beast running all day, all night. Camera-wise, you'll find a 64MP + 13MP + 5MP rear camera array, along with a 24MP selfie camera.

On the ROG Phone 3 Strix Edition, you'll be getting similar stuff, but with a Snapdragon 865 5G chipset instead, as well as only up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage.

One of the many outstanding features found on the ROG Phone 3 series is the GameCool 3 cooling system, which comes with a redesigned 3D vapor chamber, a large graphite film behind the screen to maximize heat transfer, and an enlarged heat sink that's precisely located to eliminate hotspots.

AirTrigger functionality also makes a welcome return - the new and improved AirTrigger 3 now includes a motion sensor that detects shaking, and allows different kinds of inputs including swiping. You can also now customise the trigger zones to to allow up to 4 areas of detection. Side-mounting charging is also back, allowing you to charge while playing unhindered in landscape mode.

Finally, as always, the ROG Phone 3 series is armed with an entire arsenal of accessories to enhance and complete the mobile gaming experience. These include:

  • New ROG Kunai 3 Gamepad to add physical console-like gamepad controls

  • New ROG Lighting Armor Case for a stunning appearance

  • ROG Clip to attach the phone to selected console controllers

  • New TwinView Dock 3 to provide true 144Hz dual-screen gameplay

  • Mobile Desktop Dock to connect a desktop keyboard and mouse for a desktop-like gaming experience on an external TV or monitor

So far, there is no official local release date or price for the ROG Phone 3 series yet, but if the previous iterations were anything to go by, be prepared to pay flagship prices for these beasts.
