ASUS has recently unveiled the latest addition to their ExpertBook series, with their new ExpertBook PM3, but let’s have a look at one of their earlier unveilings this year, the ASUS ExpertBook P1, available in both 14-inch and 15.6-inch variants. The device is built for professionals with its practical design, robust performance options, and everyday usability at a competitive price point. In this review, we’ll take a closer look at its design, display, connectivity, performance, and battery life to see why it’s a strong contender for business and educational users alike.

Design

When it comes to the design for the ExpertBook P1, the laptop comes with a clean and elegant appearance. Weighing at just 1.40kg for the 14-inch model and 1.61kg for the 15.6-inch model, it strikes a balance between portability and usability, making it easy to carry to meetings or work remotely.

One highlight for the P1’s design would be the fact that it comes with an ErgoSense keyboard, crafted to deliver a desktop-like typing experience. With 19.05mm key spacing, 0.2mm key-cap curvature, 1.35mm key travel, and 0.1mm key-cap dish height, every keystroke feels precise and comfortable. On top of that, the keyboard is spill-resistant, giving professionals peace of mind when working on the go.

In addition to this, the ASUS ExpertBook P1503CVA sets a new benchmark for durability, having passed 24 tests under the US military-grade MIL-STD-810H standard. Its panel is engineered to withstand strong pressure.

Additionally, its sturdiness allows it to even support the weight of a full-grown person standing on it. The reinforced hinge is also designed to handle up to 50,000 open-and-close cycles, doubling the endurance offered by most competitors. These features ensure that the P1 remains a reliable partner for demanding professional use.

In fact, all of ASUS’ P Series, such as the P1, P3, and P5, are built with the same high standards of toughness, with the PM3 being the latest addition to this durable and reliability-focused lineup.

Display

The ASUS ExpertBook P1 comes with a Full HD Anti-glare IPS display, available in 14-inch and 15.6-inch sizes depending on the model. With up to 300 nits of brightness, the screen delivers sharp visuals while minimizing reflections under bright lighting conditions.

This makes the display ideal for long hours of productivity, whether you’re editing documents, working on presentations, or attending video conferences. The IPS panel also ensures consistent colors and wide viewing angles, enhancing overall usability.

Connectivity

The ExpertBook P1 is well-equipped with a comprehensive range of I/O ports that cater to modern business needs. It includes two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports with full-range charging and display/power delivery support, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, an HDMI 1.4b port, a 3.5mm combo audio jack, and an RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet port for wired connections.

Performance

The ASUS ExpertBook P1 offers a versatile set of performance options to suit different professional workloads. It is powered by an Intel® Core™ i7-13700H processor with 14 cores, making it capable of handling demanding multitasking, productivity apps, and enterprise-level workloads. Other processor options include the Intel® Core™ i5-13500H and the more entry-friendly Intel® Core™ i3-1315U, allowing users to select the model that best fits their budget and performance needs.

For memory, the P1 supports up to 64GB of DDR5 5200 MHz RAM, ensuring smooth multitasking and future-proof performance. Storage is equally impressive, with dual M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD slots available, with one 2280 slot (up to 1TB) and one 2230 slot (up to 512GB). This gives users the speed of PCIe 4.0 combined with flexible storage configurations for business files and applications.

To evaluate the laptop’s ability to handle everyday workloads, I used the Geekbench 6 benchmark test. The ASUS ExpertBook P3 achieved 1566 points in the single-core test and 7126 points in the multi-core test, demonstrating that it is more than capable of managing daily tasks efficiently.

In addition, I ran the PCMark 10 benchmark to evaluate the device’s overall system performance across a wide range of Windows PC tasks. The ASUS ExpertBook P3 achieved a score of 4248, with particularly strong results in essentials and productivity applications, making it an advantage that makes it well-suited for business users.

Security

ASUS doesn’t compromise on security, even with the entry-level ExpertBook P1. The P1503CVA comes equipped with a Chassis Intrusion Detection sensor, a feature usually reserved for premium business laptops. If the chassis is opened, the system logs the event and displays both the sensor location and a warning message to alert the user.

Meanwhile, ASUS also bundles a three-year McAfee Premium Edition subscription, priced at RM629, which adds online fraud protection, social media privacy tools, and unlimited VPN access. Together, these features ensure that the laptop is fully protected at the hardware and software level, making it a trustworthy choice for business users.

Battery

The ASUS ExpertBook P1 is powered by a high-capacity 50Wh battery, with an option for 63Wh depending on the configuration, while the Intel Core i3 variant comes with a 42Wh battery. With the included 65W USB-C charger, users can expect efficient power delivery and convenient charging across devices. This is especially helpful for those who are working throughout the day.
