ASUS Announces New Laptops, Projector, and Portable Monitor at "Be Ahead" Event

ASUS has announced a new projector and portable monitor at the Be Ahead event at CES 2021. The event also saw the announcement of several laptops like the VivoBook S14 and Chromebook Flip CX5.

Some ZenBooks (ZenBook Pro Duo 15 OLED and ZenBook Duo 14), business PCs (ExpertBook B9, Chromebook CX9, and BR1100), and a new TUF Dash gaming laptop were also featured. They were part of other ASUS announcements as well, and you can read about them in these articles: (1, 2, 3)


VivoBook S14 (S435)

The VivoBook S14 is an Intel Evo-verified device described as the “lightest 14-inch VivoBook model”. It weighs 1.3kg and has a 15.9mm profile. Aesthetically, the laptop features “classy diamond-cut edges”, a Deep Green all-metal chassis, a VivoBook lid logo, and a bright yellow color-blocked Enter key. It has a TÜV Rheinland-certified frameless four-sided NanoEdge display with a 90% screen-to-body ratio.


The laptop has an 11th Gen Intel Core i7 processor with Intel Iris Xe graphics, 16GB of RAM and Intel Optane Memory H10. It also has an up to 1TB PCIe SSD and ASUS Intelligent Performance Technology. The latter is said to offer a 40% performance boost without adverse effects on battery and noise and with better cooling efficiency. For ports, the laptop has Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A and USB 2.0 ports, and a microSD card reader. It also has Wi-Fi 6 connectivity.

Chromebook Flip CX5 (CX5500)

The Chromebook Flip CX5 is a 15.6-inch device with an 11th Gen Intel Core processor with Intel Iris X graphics. It features Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, ASUS WiFi Stabilizer technology, dual Harman Kardon-certified speakers, and a 57 Wh battery that provides up to 12 hours of battery life. It also comes with up to 16GB of RAM, up to a 512GB SSD, and a microSD card slot.


Aesthetically, it has an Immersive White exterior with a metallic design and “ceramic-like feel”. The palm rest area has a smooth Obsidian Velvet texture.

ZenBeam Latte L1 projector

The ZenBeam Latte L1 projector features a cylindrical mug-shaped design, which ASUS says will enhance sound transmission while keeping the device compact. It also has a fabric exterior for for increased sound penetration and up to three hours of battery life on a single charge with its built-in battery.


The projector sports a 300-LED-lumens light and has a 40-to-120-inch projection range. It also has Aptoide TV support and can project mobile phone screens with wireless mirroring. It has a Harman Kardon 10-watt speaker that connects through Bluetooth as well. ASUS says that the projector can also be used as a portable Bluetooth speaker with Movie, Music, and Gaming audio modes. It can provide up to 12 hours of audio.

ProArt Display PA148CTV

The ProArt Display PA148CTV is a 14-inch FHD IPS portable monitor with 100% sRGB, 100% Rec 709 color spaces, Calman verification, and factory pre-calibrated Delta E < 2 color accuracy. It features a 10-point multi-touch panel with an anti-glare film, a Virtual Control Panel, and an ASUS Dial for controlling compatible Adobe software as well as Microsoft Surface Dial features.

The monitor also features an integrated on-screen display controller, ProArt Preset software for adjusting colour gamut, and ProArt Palette to set up display parameters. It has two USB-C ports and a micro HDMI port for connectivity, and has a tripod socket. A leather sleeve is included.
