ASUS has announced two new dual-band WiFi 6 (802.11ax) gaming routers, called the RT-AX86U and RT-AX82U.
The RT-AX86U, an upgraded version of the RT-AC86U, boasts speeds of up to 5700 Mbps. The RT-AX82U, on the other hand, delivers speeds of up to 5400 Mbps. The RT-AX86U also comes with a 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN port
In line with the focus on gaming, the routers are supplemented by several ways to prioritize your gaming devices. The ASUS Router app has a Mobile Game Mode that prioritizes devices running the app. Similarly, consumers can prioritize any device using the router’s Gear Accelerator function. There’s also a dedicated Gaming Port to prioritize wired devices that are connected to it.
In addition, the routers have the ASUS AiMesh technology, allowing them to be used with other compatible ASUS routers to form a multi-router mesh network. There’s also the ASUS AiProtection Pro with parental controls for those worried about kids. Looks-wise, the RT-AX82U has an Aura RGB lighting system that offers a range of full-colour dynamic patterns, while the RT-AX86U merely has a red panel.
Below are the full specs from the press release. Both devices are now available. The RT-AX86U costs RM1,388, while the RT-AX82U costs RM1,068.
