Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the top-selling boxed game in the UK, with its physical launch sales twice the amount of Assassin's Creed Odyssey's.
As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, the sales for Ubisoft’s latest open world game were such that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War failed to get the top spot on the GfK Top Ten chart for the week ending November 14th when it launched, a first for the FPS franchise in 13 years. Instead, the new Call of Duty title came in at second place.
However, digital sales may be a different matter as Activision said that Black Ops Cold War had the “the highest first day digital sales worldwide in franchise history”.
GamesIndustry.biz also reported that Valhalla had 42% of its physical launch sales contributed by PS4 players, while 40% came from Xbox players. In the case of the latter, it’s unclear how many percent were from the new Xbox consoles and the Xbox One respectively due to the use of a single SKU for all of them. The PS5 contributed 18% of physical sales.
In regards to other new releases, Spider-Man: Miles Morales was ranked third on the chart while Demon’s Souls was number six.
