AMD Users Won’t Get Ray-Tracing in Cyberpunk 2077 at Launch

Excited to run Cyberpunk 2077 with ray-tracing enabled? Well, if you’re an AMD user, you might have to wait a bit.

As spotted by PC Gamer, CD PROJEKT Red Global Community Lead Marcin Momot revealed that AMD users won’t get to enjoy ray-tracing on the open world cyberpunk RPG at the same time as NVIDIA users. Responding to a Twitter user who was wondering about the game’s AMD ray-tracing specs, which were missing from the recently-revealed detailed system requirements, Momot said, “Not for the release but we are working together with AMD to introduce this feature as soon as we can.”

CDPR had listed the RTX 2060, RTX 3070, and RTX 3080 as the recommended ray tracing cards for minimum, high, and ultra settings respectively.

While the news will be a bit disappointing for AMD fans, the bright side is that ray tracing support is coming at some point. If, on the other hand, you’re an AMD user with no interest in ray tracing, CDPR revealed its recommended AMD cards to be the Radeon RX 470, Radeon RX 590, Radeon RX 5700 XT, and Radeon RX 6800 XT for minimum, recommended, high, and ultra settings respectively.
