Earlier this week, Xiaomi Corporation announced the Group’s newest CFO and Vice President, Mr. Alain Lam. He will succeed Mr. Wang Xiang, the company's acting CFO, on October 8, 2020.
Mr. Lam, aged 46, boasts a veritable portfolio of achievements, including a master’s degree in engineering from the University of Oxford and the role of managing director and head of technology, media and telecom in the investment banking and capital markets department of Credit Suisse in Asia Pacific.
Before taking up this role at Xiaomi, he served as managing director at Morgan Stanley covering equity capital markets for technology, media and telecom in Asia Pacific.
His background could hint at Xiaomi's intentions to increase its margins and better monetise its investments in technology startups.
