According to a report by WABetaInfo, Whatsapp could be fixing the low-resolution quality issue when users send images on the platform. Users can expect to send images in these three quality options in the future:
Auto (Recommended): WhatsApp will decide whether or not to compress the photo based on the user’s internet connection.
Best Quality: WhatsApp will send the image in the best quality possible (although it’s still unclear whether the images will be fully uncompressed or Whatsapp will only apply a less aggressive compression).
Data Saver: Images will be compressed as usual to save data and storage space.
Similar options for video quality could also be in the works. While WABetaInfo’s report related specifically for the Android beta app and not iOS, there is still no official announcement of the new feature as of now.
