For this week’s free Epic Games Store game, Epic opted to keep its identity under wraps and use the label of “mystery game” until the start of the giveaway. As a result, its reveal might a bit underwhelming depending on what kind on gamer you are, as this week’s free game is NBA 2K21.
Released in late 2020 to not-so-stellar reviews (it has a “Mostly Negative” user rating on Steam, with the Metacritic user ratings not being much better), the normally RM199 NBA 2K21 offers MyCAREER to create a custom MyPLAYER and take them from high school to the NBA, MyGM/MyLEAGUE for being the boss of a team, and MyTEAM for assembling a dream team from both past and present players. There’s also the option to jump into a quick match against the AI or a friend.
NBA 2K21 offers the Pro Stick feature, which claims to offer a “new level of precision and skill” when it comes to aim jump shots and layups as well as “new signature dribble moves” unlocked through “more effective ball handling”. It also boasts enhancements to “visual presentation, player AI, game modes, and much more”.
You can check out NBA 2K21’s EGS page here. Next week’s free game is also a mystery, so we’ll have to wait till then to see what Epic has in store for us next.
