Sony has released a new PS5 trailer that emphasizes some of the platform's technical capabilities.
Titled “Play Has No Limits”, it highlights the PS5’s ability to create immersion through haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and 3D audio. “Welcome to a new world of immersion,” the narrator says.
The wireless DualSense controller was first revealed in April 2020. In their blog post, Sony said that the haptic feedback “adds a variety of powerful sensations you’ll feel when you play, such as the slow grittiness of driving a car through mud. We also incorporated adaptive triggers into the L2 and R2 buttons of DualSense so you can truly feel the tension of your actions, like when drawing a bow to shoot an arrow.” Perhaps not coincidentally, the trailer shows its main character drawing a bow to shoot an arrow.
As for the audio, lead system architect Mark Cerny told GamesRadar back in March that “with 3D audio with good locality, the idea is you know the enemy is precisely there. And you turn, and you take it out."
While it’s nice to be reminded of what the PS5 will offer, there’s still no price reveal yet, unfortunately. We’ll let you know if we hear anything about it.
