When a social media platform has grown a huge number of users, you'll know it's only a matter of time before capitalism reaches out its claws. We've seen what happened to platforms like Facebook and Instagram with a growing 'marketplace where users use the platform as a place to start their own business. Well, the next one on the list is TikTok.
The company has announced that it has teamed up with Shopify to roll out the TikTok Shopping. The pilot test will be available for selected Shopify sellers in the US, UK, and Canada in the next few weeks.
The new feature will allow Shopify sellers who own a TikTok For Business account to add a shopping tab to their profiles, which will sync the catalogue from their own online store to the platform. The two companies are also working on bringing product links for the sellers so that they can tag them in TikTok posts.
TikTok Shopping will be rolled out to other regions in the coming months so more everyday TikTok users can expect to see products links and business-related videos all over the platform.
