Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2021 to be Held on January 14

Samsung has announced that Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2021 will be held on January 14. Bearing the subtitle of "Welcome to the Everyday Epic", the event will be broadcast via the Samsung website’s Samsung Newsroom at 10 a.m. EST (11pm in Malaysia).

“Over the past year, mobile technology has taken center stage in everyday life as people are working from and spending time at home,” Samsung wrote in its video’s YouTube description. “The accelerated transition to a mobile-first world brings with it the need for devices that can transform everyday life into an extraordinary experience.”

January 14 also appears to be the date of the Galaxy S21 series’ launch. According to Android Authority, staff of a Samsung store in India told the website that the S21 phones will launch globally on that date. Additionally, the website reported that in India, customers can pre-book the new phones with Rs 2,000 (~RM110) in order to be updated on availability and delivery. They will also be able to select their preferred S21 model, which includes the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 Ultra, after the phones’ announcements. Samsung’s US website currently has a pre-order reservation page for “the next Galaxy”, which is presumably the S21.

Leaks about the S21 series emerged back in October 2020, with the regular S21’s camera bump resembling the blurry object featured in the Galaxy Unpacked 2021 video. Android Authority wrote that the Samsung store had confirmed the S21 Ultra to have a 108MP main camera and two 10MP sensors, one with 10x optical zoom support, along with laser autofocus. In addition, the website was told that the S21 will have gray, pink, purple, and white colorways while the S21 Plus will have pink, purple, silver, and black options. The S21 Ultra will apparently have black and silver colorways only.
