Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra - Things you can do with the S Pen other than doodling

What do you usually do using the S Pen? Jotting down notes, doodling, or just pulling it out for fun. The S Pen could be the best built-in fidget on the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra because of the sound it makes when you take it out. *click* *click*

But we’re not talking about that matter right now, we’re here to find out what the other features of the S Pen can do. ✍️(◔◡◔)

Air Command

Let’s start with the first thing you going to see when you take out the S Pen which is the Air Command. (o゚v゚)ノ

The Air Command gives you quick access to all S Pen features. If your menu is looking empty compared to mine, that’s probably because you haven’t added the other features under the “Add” tab.

You may find S Pen features such as Create notes, view all notes, smart select, screen write, translate, and glance, basically all you can do using the S Pen on S23 Ultra.

Air actions

For better understanding, the Air actions turn your S Pen into a remote control where you can launch the camera app, click on pictures, play videos/songs, and more even without touching the display.

The default function on the S Pen button will launch the camera app if you wanted to take some quick shots on some rare occasions ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) it would definitely serve you well. You can also customize the function, allowing you to launch your desired app.

Air View

Judging from the name, you can already guess the function it provides. It allows you to “sneak” preview links, gallery pictures, and calendar events by drifting your S Pen over the selected items.

This function saves you from the hassle of getting in and out of the website or gallery while looking for the things you want.

Screen off memo

The screen-off memo is the most common feature that you will be going to use most of the time. As you can guess, this feature lets you take notes without turning on the screen. The moment you pull out the S Pen, you may start doodling or jotting down notes.

However, the screen-off memo function only offers some of the basic features available on the Samsung Notes app.

Smart select

Tired of getting stalked on your device’s battery health? The Smart Select is here to save the day! It allows you to capture any screenshot with any desired size(not file size), including rectangle, circle, or even freeform size.

Thus, it focuses on the main subject you wanted to screenshot and share with your friends while keeping your personal information such as messages and battery health secured.

٩(˘◡˘ )

Screen write

Screen Write is a simple screenshot and writing tool. It allows you to quickly write your screenshot. You can treat this as a “quick editing” feature to add on words, or even draw your own pattern on the screenshot.

In addition, you can also use the Screen write on any pictures in your gallery just by tapping the pen icon and you’re set to express your creativity and create some doodle art on your own!

Translate

Yes, translate, another straightforward feature you can do with the S Pen. This time, you can use the S Pen to highlight any text you wanted to translate into any language on the spot which is quite efficient ya.

Also, you wouldn’t need to download the Google Translate app in order to use this feature. It was implemented to create a better world. (╹ڡ╹ )

Glance

Attention! You can now pull off the “Alt-Tab” sick move on your Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra with Glance. It is a great multitasking tool where it allows you to have a quick look at the other applications without switching on the recent tabs.

⬅️Swipe➡️

To use this amazing multitasking feature, you have to open a small thumbnail of an application for viewing purposes. Once you hover the S Pen over the small thumbnail, the application will be expanded to a readable size and vice versa.

Write on Calendar

If you wanted to keep track of your schedules for working or educational purposes, this feature would come in handy as it allows you to briefly create an appointment on the Samsung Calendar app as you were drafting appointments on a paper calendar in your Galaxy S23 Ultra. However, it took up a lot of space on the calendar.

S Pen unlock

The S Pen unlock feature turns your S Pen into a key for your Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. Although the “key” is quite expensive to be carrying around despite how small the S Pen is. This feature often comes in handy when you’re far away from the Galaxy S23 Ultra or just flexing the functionality. (¬‿¬)

**You’ll have to enable the S Pen to unlock feature on the S Pen settings on the advanced features. Follow the steps below if you don’t know how to do it:

  • First, go to S Pen settings on the Advance features tab

  • Scroll down until you see More S Pen settings

  • And you can enable the S Pen unlock feature

That’s all the features we’re going to cover for the S Pen. Keep in mind that some of the features like Write on Calendar, Screen write, Glance, and Translate can only be accessed through the S Pen Air Command tab. Let me know in the comments if you are confused about how to use those features listed above, I will do my best to resolve them. (•_•)
