Noise-cancelling technology has been a prominent feature of many earphones recently. Living in an urban environment, you are bound to be distracted by noises that can disrupt whatever you are listening to.

With OPPO’s latest earbuds, the Enco Air2 Pro, I feel like they offer me a high-quality, noise-free audio experience that helps me stay focused at work while listening to my favourite tunes.

Design

The OPPO Enco Air2 Pro come in a reflective bubble case with a unique smiling curve design that can open and close with just one hand.

Pairing the earbuds is easy. Simply open the charging case, and the earbuds are ready for pairing.

They are comfortable and don’t easily slide out from your ear. It also includes ear tips of varying sizes for different ear sizes.

Audio

The OPPO Enco Air2 Pro use a 12.4mm titanized diaphragm driver that allows for bassy and clear audio. It also includes a dual-core active noise cancelling (ANC) chip that can capture and neutralise noises.

There is an issue I have with the earbuds. While low-frequency noises like an air conditioner or a ceiling fan can be removed with active noise cancelling, higher frequencies like loud voices and music are still audible. So don’t expect a quiet listening session if you are outside or in a crowded place.

Controls

For the controls, you can tap once to pause or play videos and music, tap twice on the earbuds to play the next track, and answer and end calls. Pressing and holding the earbuds switches the earbuds between transparency and noise-cancelling mode.

The earbuds are also compatible with the HeyMelody app. The app allows you to change between noise-cancelling and transparency mode without pressing your earbuds. You can also change the equaliser of your audio for bass boost or clear vocals. There is also a Game Mode that you can turn on, this reduces the connection latency of your earbuds for a better gaming experience.

The app also allows you to change earbud controls, such as a single tap to play the next track or disable it if it is not to your liking.

Buy or no buy?

OPPO Enco Air2 Pro are a decent pair of earbuds that offer pretty good sound quality in a simple and slick design. However, the noise-cancelling only working effectively in the quietest room leaves room for improvement. For the price of RM 249, I think they are a decent pair of earbuds for anyone looking for new ones.
