New Hitman 3 Video Shows Off Chongqing Location, Technical Improvements

A new Hitman 3 video has been released, showing off for the first time the new neon-lit, rain-drenched Chongqing location.

It’s more of a glimpse than a proper tour, but we do see streets, alleys, apartment rooms and corridors, what seems like a restaurant building, and a very fancy-looking work-in-progress hall of some sort. There are also cable cars, although it’s unclear if Agent 47 can get on them.

Aside from providing a look at the very pretty map, IO Interactive’s video shows off some improved features like lighting, animations, and water effects. Agent 47’s clothes will get wet from the rain, and footsteps in puddles of water produce satisfying ripples. NPC population density has also been buffed, with the video stating that the game will have more than 300 active NPCs at a time.

“All these improvements in animation, rendering, AI, and so forth will all be part of Hitman 1 and 2 through Hitman 3,” the video says. In addition, there will be support for 4K, 60FPS, and HDR both on PC and next-gen consoles.

Hitman 3 will be released on 20 January 2021 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, Stadia, and PC, where it will be exclusive to Epic Games Store for 12 months. IO has said that Hitman 2 locations and progression can be carried into the third game, and that the entire trilogy is playable from within it.
