Netflix's plan to offer video games service has just taken a big step as the company has acquired the award-winning studio behind Oxenfree - Night School Studio.
"Night School wants to stretch our narrative and design aspirations across distinctive, original games with heart," Sean Krankel from Night School Studio wrote. "Netflix gives film, TV, and now game makers an unprecedented canvas to create and deliver excellent entertainment to millions of people. Our explorations in narrative gameplay and Netflix’s track record of supporting diverse storytellers were such a natural pairing. It felt like both teams came to this conclusion instinctively."
Night School Studio is best known for its debut game - Oxenfree - a supernatural coming-of-age thriller with an eerie soundtrack.
Netflix has previously introduced casual games like Stranger Things: 1984, Stranger Things 3: The Game, Card Blast, Teeter Up, and Shooting Hoops to Netflix members in Poland, Spain, and Italy, which can be accessed via the "Games" tab in the app on Android devices.
