This year's Dew Challenge brings innovation once again to bridge the virtual world and reality with a great and unique experience for young people, while promoting an energetic and active lifestyle with Mountain Dew and PUBG collaboration.
On 1 October 2023, in Kuala Lumpur, the vibrant Dew Challenge returns to the national stage in collaboration with PUBG. This event merges the best of the virtual and real worlds, hosting one of the largest PUBG-themed paintball tournaments. It promises to deliver all the elements cherished by PUBG players into the tangible realm. Geared towards capturing the interest of adventurous youth and PUBG enthusiasts, participants are in for an immersive and innovative experience.
From October 1, interested participants can purchase a 400ml bottle of Mountain Dew, visit the Dew Challenge website at dewchallenge.com and enter the unique code under the bottle cap to register and redeem prizes such as UC Coins, in-game items, merchandise and partner vouchers. Each bottle redemption gives you a randomly determined amount of Dew Coins, and contributes to their region's leaderboard position. The best players from each leaderboard will be given priority to participate in the exciting and energetic regional round, covering 4 regions in Malaysia: North, South, Central and East Malaysia, this November.
The launch will also involve treasure hunting activities that take inspiration from in-game mechanics. Similar to how players parachute into the desired game zone on the map, the treasure hunt will begin with the participant selecting a region to determine where their journey begins. Also, just like how players find weapons, armor and supplies from lootboxes at the beginning of the game, participants will find lootboxes that will give them extra points on the leaderboard and more before the competition begins.
These lootboxes will be replenished daily and/or after a different time period throughout the day at partner outlets such as MBO Cinemas, Morac Go Kart, Chicago Chicken City, Taco Bell and Dominos nationwide. Participants will receive a notification on the Dew Challenge website about the location of the lootbox where they can scan the QR code on the virtual lootbox and redeem prizes to improve their position on the leaderboard
For those in the Klang Valley, the special Dew Challenge touring truck will be bringing the fun to various locations such as universities, partner stores, night markets, commercial centers and more. To redeem exclusive items and products, visitors can participate in a number of activities that take inspiration from PUBG such as a special Mountain Dew x PUBG vending machine, an immersive shooting gallery, and gaming session that will provide various other prizes to be won.
In addition of that, as the official smartphone sponsor for this year's Dew Challenge, HONOR Malaysia will also sponsor 110 exciting prizes for participants, making this the first brand collaboration for its new release.
Commenting on the collaboration, Amy Gan, Vice President of Ethical Marketing said, “We are very excited to witness the Dew Challenge this year. It represents Mountain Dew's commitment to customers who want to live a lifestyle to the fullest. With the end of the global pandemic, we can bring the virtual world to reality through a unique experience for Malaysians who are ready to enjoy an extraordinary experience. We want to encourage more people to challenge themselves and live their best and most energetic lives.”
He added, "This is the first time a brand can carry out activities on this scale. It can only be done with the close cooperation of our team and partners, especially the PUBG side who also share the same vision and have full faith in this idea. We encourage everyone to come along to follow this historic journey with us, whether you are a player or not.”
The time period for registration, treasure hunts and truck tours will run from October 1 to 31, followed by the inter-provincial competition which will take place in November, and the Finals in December.
