Microsoft is rolling out a revamped personalised news service called Microsoft Start. It will appear on the Windows 10 taskbar and Windows 11 widgets section. Users can also access it via MicrosoftStart.com, Android and iOS apps, and the new tab page on Microsoft Edge.
Similar to Microsoft News, it includes news and media channels from more than 1000 publishers. The company uses AI and machine learning algorithms as well as "human moderation" to filter news presented to users and personalise content based on users' interest.
Users can hit the personalise button to refine the app's feed according to the type of news that they like. Since their preferences are synced to their Microsoft accounts, users can expect the same experience on all platforms when they log in to their accounts. Microsoft Start will feature top stories, personalized recommendations, and sports scores or the weather on its feed.
While the new service will be the new brand for Microsoft News, Microsoft assured that MSN won't be going away.
