MediaTek has just revealed its latest addition to the brand's Helio G family: the Helio G85 SoC will be joining the existing Helio G90 and G90T chipsets as a slightly lower-end entry.
The Helio G85 is an octa-core SoC featuring 2 ARM Cortex-A75 chips running at 2GHz and 6 Cortex-A55 processors running at 1.8GHz. It comes integrated with an ARM Mali-G52 GPU running at a peak frequency of 1GHz and uses MediaTek's HyperEngine technology to enhance gaming performance.
One thing to note is that the Helio G85 is not a 5G-enabled chipset - it only supports dual 4G SIM connectivity.
Smartphones powered by the G85 will enjoy support for multi cameras, including a mix of wide angle, macro, telescopic and sensor sizes up to 48MP. On top of that, it supports a variety of AI-driven features, such as Google Lens, smart photo albums, bokeh shot enhancements, and more.
