MagSafe Duo Charger Has Less Than 15W Peak Charging Speed

It looks like Apple’s MagSafe Duo Charger’s charging capabilities aren’t on par with those of the regular MagSafe.

As spotted by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the updated product page for the MagSafe Duo lists an up-to-11W charging speed when used with a (separately sold) 20W USB-C Power Adapter, while a 27W or higher USB-C Power Adapter (also sold separately) will achieve up to 14W. In contrast, the regular MagSafe charges at up to 15W with the 20W Power Adapter.

In addition, Gurman pointed out that there’s no 27W charger sold by Apple, so you’ll need to fork out for their 30W charger if you want to hit 14W with the MagSafe Duo. The 30W charger costs RM189 while the 20W charger costs RM99. For the MagSafe chargers, the MagSafe Duo costs RM589 while the regular MagSafe costs RM179.

In other words, it’ll cost you RM778 to get a charging speed of up to 14W with the MagSafe Duo. Even with the MagSafe Duo’s ability to charge an iPhone and Apple Watch simultaneously, that seems pretty pricey.
