Today, Lenovo Legion announced that they have joined the international #PlayApartTogether initiative in collaboration with the World Health Organisation and the global gaming industry.
The initiative promotes social distancing while staying connected with friends and family through gaming. By incorporating COVID-19 self-protection measures into games, the industry is telling the world: “Wherever you are, whatever game you play, you can make a difference.”
“Lenovo Legion has always been about empowering the global gaming community to connect, engage and have fun through immersive, digital experiences. We’re proud to join the #PlayApartTogether campaign as we stand united with the community during this global crisis now, more than ever.
- Matt Bereda, Vice President of Global Consumer Marketing, Intelligent Devices Group
To show their support, the Lenovo Foundation will be making a US$25,000 grant contribution to the WHO to aid the fight against COVID-19. This is in addition to the contributions valued over US$11 million made by the foundation so far.
Joining Lenovo in the #PlayApartTogether initiative are gaming industry partners from all over the world, including notable names such as Activision Blizzard, Riot Games, Oculus, and Twitch Prime.
It's great to see big players from the gaming industry banding together to show support for social distancing measures and promoting gaming in a positive light. As for us consumers and gamers, let's stay strong, game on, and join the fight against the spread of COVID-19 together!
