Lenovo Announces the Legion Phone Duel in Malaysia, Priced from RM3,399

Three years after Lenovo launched their Lenovo Legion gaming sub-brand, they have finally announced the availability of the Lenovo Legion Phone Duel in Malaysia. The gaming phone built around the most common needs of mobile gamers, including longer battery life, good heat management, customisable controls, and support for livestreaming.

In terms of power, it features a top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus with 5G support (sans mmWave support), up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of UFS3.1 storage. The 6.59" display features a 2340x1080 resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, and 240Hz touch sampling rate.

The name of the phone itself is a play on the word 'dual', with the idea that two is always better than one. It's also related to its Dual Technology Architecture, which takes this ideology into account while shaping the major design elements of the phone.

Dual Technology Architecture

Dual batteries: Two units of 2500mAh batteries (totalling 5000mAh) are located on each side of the phone, flanking the logic board in the centre. This keeps the warmest part of the phone away from gamers' hands.

Dual Type-C charging: Contains two charging ports - one located conventionally on the bottom, and one on the side for easy access while gaming in horizontal orientation. With both cords from the bundled (yes) 65W charger plugged in, the phone will turbo charge from 0% to 100% in just 34 minutes (or 0% to 60% in 15 minutes).

Dual liquid heat pipes, graphite sheets and copper foils: Manages thermals for a cooler gaming experience.

Dual shoulder controls: A pair of ultrasonic trigger buttons located on each side of the phone, equipped with dual haptic engines for deeper immersion in games. The haptic feedback can be tuned to your liking, along with the pressure threshold.

Dual front-facing speakers: Assists with positional audio and situational battle cues in-game.

Dual livestreaming: A 20MP side-mounted camera pops up and retracts within 0.5 seconds to enable easy livestreaming. You can overlay your image over the in-game streaming via popular streaming apps. This is complemented by four noise-cancelling microphones to broadcast your audio.

Apart from all the 'dual'-themed features, the Legion Phone Duel also has a 64MP rear camera and ultrawide 16MP camera, a landscape-optimised interface, as well as the Legion Realm dashboard. Here, you can record and review your gaming highlights, as well as customise the phone's RGB lighting (what's a gaming phone without customisable RGB?). Lenovo has assured us that you can turn the RGB lighting off if it's too gaudy for your liking.

Finally, you can also connect the phone to an external mouse, keyboard, and monitor via a USB-C dock, if you're into big-screen gaming.

The Lenovo Legion Phone Duel will be available in Malaysia from 26 October onwards in two colours - Vengeance Red and Blazing Blue.

In terms of pricing, the 12GB+256GB model will cost RM3,399, while the 16GB+512GB variant will set you back RM3,999. If you visit Lenovo Malaysia’s official website or selected participating partners between 26 October and 30 November, you will also enjoy a free gift worth up to RM329 while stocks last.
