Here Are All the Switch Games Announced During the Latest Nintendo Direct Indie World Showcase

In case you're looking for more indie games to add to your ever-growing backlog, Nintendo has just announced a whole slew of new titles arriving in 2020 - some as early as spring this year. Most of them are timed console exclusives, while some are purely available on the Switch only - for now, at least.

Without further ado, let's take a look at a short summary of what's in store for us this year!

Blue Fire is a 3D platformer that takes place in a long-forgotten land called The Void. It promises 'deadly adversaries and collectibles aplenty', and is a timed console exclusive that will be first released on the Switch in Summer 2020.

Baldo is an open world action-adventure inspired by JRPGs with an art style heavily reminiscent of Studio Ghibli's works. It's also a timed console exclusive that will be released in Summer 2020.

I Am Dead utilises X-Ray vision as a mechanic to solve mysteries on a tiny island town called Shelmerston. It is also a timed console exclusive that will be released later this year.

Bark - or 'Bio-Interstellar Ark' - is a 2D side-scrolling family friendly co-op space shooter in which you play as 'one of four ferocious animal astronauts trying to liberate the Earth from crazy robots'. Again, it is a timed console exclusive to be released in late 2020.

Cyanide & Happiness: Freakpocalypse is an adventure game set in a post-apocalyptic universe loosely based on the popular Cyanide & Happiness webcomic. It'll be released as a timed console exclusive in Summer 2020.

Summer in Mara is a farming game where you'll have to take care of your own island and explore the ocean (plus up to 30 other islands) with your boat. You might have seen this game heavily promoted as a crowdfunded project on Facebook, and it looks like it's finally coming out this Spring (not Summer) 2020. It is also a timed console exclusive.

Quantum League is a first-person shooter with a unique time loop mechanic that allows you to team up with your past selves in gun battles; each round you'll be accompanied by your past self that echoes your movements and decisions from the previous round. It will arrive in late 2020.

The Good Life is a debt repayment RPG that takes place in a rural British town called Rainy Woods. Every night, the denizens of the town turn into a dog or a cat, promising a bizarre adventure unlike you've ever seen before. It will be launched sometime this year.

The Last Campfire is a moving tale about 'compassion, empathy, and finding hope.' Created by the makers of No Man's Sky, it features a little blue character named 'Ember' trying to find his way home. It launches in Summer 2020.

PixelJunk Eden 2 is the latest installment in a long series of PixelJunk games. It generates stages in real-time according to your actions, and features immersive techno beats and stylistic visuals. It will be released this Summer.

Faeria is a card battler where you can not only craft your deck, but the terrain of the battle field itself. There will be multiplayer compatibility as well as online co-op, and early Switch adopters will enjoy 4 free cosmetic packs for a limited time after its release later this Spring.

Eldest Souls is a boss rush battler done in a pixel art style. Customising your loadouts with unlockable talents and abilities are crucial to survival. It will be another timed console exclusive launching in Summer 2020.

Apart from the games previews above, they also showcased snippets from other upcoming titles such as Blair Witch, Ghost of a Tale, Sky, Sky Racket, Superliminal, Wingspan, Dicey Dungeons, Bounty Battle, Moving Out, as well as Exit the Gungeon - the follow-up to hit indie title Enter the Gungeon. which is available immediately.
