It was only last year Ghost of Tsushima introduced a multiplayer mode called Legends where players fight waves of enemies in groups of four. Sucker Punch Productions has announced that the multiplayer mode will be released as a standalone product on 3 September. The new standalone will be available on both consoles in the PlayStation Store at US$19.99 (~RM84).
On the day of release, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will welcome players with a new mode called Rivals, in which two teams of two players will compete in a horde mode format to fight off waves of enemies. As players progress through levels, they will earn an in-game currency Magatama, which can be used to purchase perks and curses to slow down the opposing team's progress. Players will be able to unlock the final wave once they have spent enough Magatama. The team that finishes the final wave first will win the match.
Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will also introduce the new Gear Mastery system where players with gears of level 110 can bind them to a class of Legend and activate Mastery Challenges. Once they have completed the challenges, the Ki level of the gears will be upgraded to level 120. In addition, players will also unlock a new ability and new techniques for each class in Mastery Challenges. They can add a second perk to their gear after completing the challenges.
According to Sucker Punch, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will have four free weekly content updates starting from 10 September. The new updates include a new Rivals map, new Survival maps, and a new version of the Tales of Iyo raid, which increases the difficulty but “offers challenges in bite-sized chunks".The new raid will have a new leaderboard too.
