miHoYo has announced that Genshin Impact's version 2.4 update "Fleeting Colors in Flight" will be coming on 5 January. The update will see the celebration of Liyue's biggest annual festival, the Lantern Rite, featuring rewards, a free 4-star Liyue character, and the return of the Jade Chamber. The remains of an underwater nation that has been sealed beneath Inazuma for thousands of years, Enkanomiya, will also be unveiled.
Enkanomiya is a huge floating island located beneath the ocean, constantly eroded by the Abyss where the ancestors of the people of Watatsumi Island once lived. Players will be equipped with Dainichi Mikoshi, an artificial sun developed by the ancient civilisation to explore the land.
Players will be facing enemies on the new island. Bathysmal Vishaps are "cunning social predators who can hunt together and take advantage of their surroundings in combat". The Abyss Lector: Fathomless Flames can "unleash Pyro attacks that deal delayed bursts of damage regardless if characters are shielded or not".
During the update, there will be two new playable characters joining players: Shenhe, a 5-star polearm user who deals Cryo damage and Yun Jin, a 4-star character who owns a Geo vision. Shenhe can increase the Cryo damage dealt by her teammates and her Elemental Skill can boost either nearby party members' Elemental Skill and Elemental burst damage, or their Normal, Plunging, and Charged Attack damage. On the other hand, Yun Jin can buff her teammates' Normal Attacks based on her defense and the variety of Visions in the player's party. Xiao, Ganyu, and Zhongli will have a rerun banner in the Event Wishes.
Additionally, players can expect rewards including 10 Intertwined Fates, a free 4-star Liyue character, Ninguang's new outfit Orchid's Evening Gown, and Keqing's new outfit Opulent Splendor.
