Today, Garmin Malaysia launched the Descent G1 and Descent S1 Solar watch-style dive computers collection, designed for detailed and safer dives. The former has a 24/7 health and wellness monitor while the latter supports solar charging in addition to the same functions. Both the Descent G1 and Descent S1 Solar are now available on Lazada, Shopee, AECO e-store, and authorized retailers for RM2,570 and RM3,030 respectively.
The G1 series comes with a high-contrast display, a 45mm watch case, 10 ATM water resistance, leak-proof inductive buttons, and a sapphire lens. Designed for divers, the series supports multiple dive modes for single and multiple gas dives (including air, nitrox, trimix, and 100% O2), gauge, apnea, apnea hunt, and closed-circuit rebreather. There's a 3-axis digital compass and vibration depth alerts for users to view stats like depth, dive time, temperature, NDL/TTS, ascent/descent rates, gas mix, PO2, N2 loading, decompression/safety stop information, and time-of-day.
The multi-GNSS satellite support allows the watch to automatically mark the surface entry and exit points in the water, and users will be able to review their activities via the Garmin Dive app. It can last up to 25 hours in dive mode, 3 weeks in smartwatch mode, and 4 months in smartwatch mode (for the solar charging models).
It offers advanced sleeping monitoring with sleep scores and built-in indoor and GPS sports apps. Compatible with both Android and iOS devices, it can receive notifications for calls, texts, reminders, social media updates, and more. There's a new Surfline Widget onboard for surfers to see a visual representation of tide information, wave height, wind, and surf quality rating.
Users can pair the G1 with an inReach Mini satellite communicator, which will send and receive messages and even trigger an interactive SOS in times of emergency. If an incident is detected, Garmin Connect Mobile can send an SOS message with the user's name and location to their emergency contacts.
The Descent G1 comes in Storm Grey and Powder Grey, priced at RM2,570. The Descent G1 Solar is available in Black and Hurricane Blue for RM3,030.
