It's been a while since we recommended some interesting RPGs so this week, our GATC features three RPGs, including one that features a form of turn-based combat in the Final Fantasy series. JRPG Atelier Sophie will be getting a sequel this week on the same day as Elden Ring, which is finally launching.
Edge of Eternity
"The world of Heryon is torn apart. Years ago, the arrival of a mysterious alien force ultimately plunged the planet into an endless cataclysmic war where both magic and technology were unleashed to their worst and darkest extremes," the game's story reads.
In the game, players play as Daryon, a young soldier who explores the open world of Heryon to find cure when he found out that his mother has been infected by an alien biological agent.
First released last year, Edge of Eternity will arrive on Switch on 23 February.
Elden Ring is FromSoftware's latest action RPG, bringing mechanics and systems from Dark Soul to an open-world format but will focus more on exploring and going off the beaten path to find unique weapons, powerful spells, hidden bosses, and more. It also features new mechanics, including a day/night cycle, dynamic weather systems, stealth systems, item crafting, and more. Players will be able to try multiplayer and PvP experiences. There will also be special "Covenants", which allow players to choose a unique role in multiplayer gameplay.
Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream
In the Atelier Sophie sequel, Sophie and Plachta will venture their journey to a new realm called Erde Weige, where they meet another alchemist named Plachta too. The game now adopts new multi-link turn battles that feature six party members divided into two teams and begin immediately when players encounter enemies while exploring.
There will be a puzzle-like synthesis system for players to place ingredients on a panel to create new items. Players can choose to use either the Standard Panel or Restricted Panel. In the new location, players can also change the weather with the use of special tools and gain access to new places and special materials.
