This week has a couple of interesting titles for FPS fans, with one providing fast-paced action in the popular Warhammer 40,000 universe’s planet of Necromunda and another offering stealthy sniping missions. For non-shooter fans, there’s a cartoony superhero game featuring DC’s Wonder Woman, Supergirl, and Batgirl as teens.
Necromunda: Hired Gun
Based on the Necromunda tabletop game, a spin-off of Warhammer 40,000, Necromunda: Hired Gun is a first-person shooter that lets players take on the role of a bounty hunter in the hive world of Necromunda. As a bounty hunter, players will be tasked with hunting down gangers and mutants for profit, and the game promises large environments for them to traverse.
Aside from familiar and upgradeable 40k weapons like the bolter, plasma gun, and graviton gun, the player character will have a cyber-mastiff with an upgrade tree of its own and a grappling hook to help them out, as well as upgradeable augments that provide abilities like wall-running. Enemies include the industrial Orlock, all-female Escher, and hulking Goliath gangs, as well as the cybernetic Ambot.
Necromunda: Hired Gun will be released on June 1 for Steam, Epic Games Store, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.
Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2
Described as the most challenging in the Sniper Ghost Warrior series so far, Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 takes the sniping action to a region in the Middle East that is located along the borders of Lebanon and Syria. As “Contract Sniper Assassin” Raven, you’ll have to take down a criminal syndicate with sniping and stealth.
The game will be the first in the series to feature targets that are over a 1000m away, and it also promises the series “most lifelike enemies to date”. It also boasts improved visuals, large and detailed environments, “hyper-realistic” sniping, replayable missions that can be completed with different approaches, and the ability to buy new gadgets and weapons with your earnings. There will be 21 contracts as well as various side missions, with five “distinct, extensive maps”.
Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 will be released on June 4 for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PS4. The PS5 version will release sometime later due to a delay.
Super Hero Girls: Teen Power
This Switch-exclusive will see players taking control of Wonder Woman, Supergirl, or Batgirl and facing off against villains like Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and Star Sapphire in Metropolis. The heroes’ unique abilities include Wonder Woman’s Lasso of Truth and Flying Shield, Supergirl’s Heat Vision and Super-Breath, and Batgirl’s Batarang and Bat-Hook. Aside from fighting villains, the heroes also have a school life and can carry out non-combat activities like shopping for clothes, taking photos to share on social media, and visiting the Sweet Justice cafe.
DC Super Hero Girls: Teen Power will be released on June 4.
