It looks like the Galaxy S21/S30 will not have an in-display selfie camera.
As reported by Korean website The Elec (via Android Authority), the Galaxy S21/S30 will reportedly have a punch-hole cutout in the center instead. The reason for Samsung not going with an in-display camera is apparently due to “low production yields”.
Instead, it looks like the first Samsung device to feature that technology will be the Galaxy Z Fold 3. As Techradar notes, the Fold 3 is expected to launch in the second half of 2021, so it’ll be a while before we get our hands on a Samsung device fitted with that camera. Meanwhile, the S21 is expected to launch sometime in February 2021.
In-display selfie cameras have already been mentioned a few times this year, namely by companies like ZTE and Xiaomi. However, Samsung will be the first to have the technology on a foldable device with the Fold 3.
